Dr.AW

DDr. AW is a Bergen-based visual artist and doctor who combines a lifelong love of art with a strong passion for social issues. Already on the way home from the maternity ward, his older sister put the pencil in his hand, and since then drawing and painting have been both his first language and greatest love. With a diverse artistic practice, Dr. AW themes such as breaking norms, queer rights and outsiders. His works are evocative, often characterized by a subtle balance between the vulnerable and the powerful. He is also known for his commitment to charity and has donated several works of art to good causes.

As a street artist (formerly under the alias Tegnepinne), he has since 2014 created art in the public space, and in that way communicated directly and uncurated with their audience.

He thrives at the intersection between low culture and high culture, and his street art is inspired by both the urban landscape and his background as a doctor. In 2025, Dr. AW full-time as an artist, with his first solo exhibition in Grieghallen in September.
