"Frida Kahlo was a Mexican artist, known for her various self-portraits and a strong political commitment. In retrospect, she has also been recognized as a feminist icon. One of Kahlo's distinguishing features in appearance was her "unibrow" - a characteristic she wore with pride: "I will not moderate my self-expression to meet your expectations of what a woman should look like". The sentence above provided the starting point for my motif, and the title "The Beauty Myth" I stole from Naomi Wolf's book, where its full title is: "The Beauty Myth - How Images of Beauty Are Used Against Women".
