Steffen Andersen (b. 1994) is an artist and designer who paints, prints, sews and works with jewelery design. He has an education from Asker Art School, and takes now a bachelor in Fine Art at KMD in Bergen. He has had a number of exhibitions in Oslo, and held several workshops in ring design (including at the Munch Museum).
In his art, he tries to capture emotions in different ways and with different means procedures. He is concerned about the environment and often uses recycling in his work.
The mediums and techniques used vary widely, but most often it is acrylic paint and oil pastel. The artistic universe offers colors, people, animals and nature captured in a surreal way.
The works exhibited here are part of a larger project. Both the paintings, and the sculpture. The animals are often a combination of several creatures, which make that one does not necessarily know how to interpret them. The meaning behind this is the feeling of not fitting into society, in short. This project is something which will continue to grow with me in my art career for several years forward in time. Both the sculpture(s) and the paintings must have a dialogue in a viewing room, but also tolerate being alone, but still have a common thread in the theme "the desire to fit in/misunderstood”. One can also interpret the theme as "what is a home". Seam plays further on where these actually belong. Both as animals, but also in the art world.
